Question by Frodo: Look at starting a website- need help getting set up?
My friend and I intend to set up a website, details are unspecific so far as to the content, but we both only have blogging experience.

We just need to know where to start, and what we need to do to get a website set up. I understand we need to pay for a domain name, but do we also need to pay for a web hosting service?

In the long run we intend to incorporate ads etc on the website as a minor source of income (more for the website to be able to support itself rather than any real profit at this stage).

We just need to know exactly what we need, preferably at a fair cheap price since we can’t afford to really spend too much money at this stage.

You may assume that we don’t have much experience, so it needs to basic enough for beginners.

Thanks very much for your help.

Question by Harry Madeley: Where can I store large files online that my friends can access?
I need a long term solution. I make films and often make short tests, although these files are often over 5GB in size. I need a method of storing these online so that my friends can view them – although I don’t want the files to be public. So a system of usernames/passwords or equivalent would be ideal.

Im looking for a cheap way to do this, I have heard that I can store the files on an external HD and create a server on my mac to achieve what I need?

Either this or some type of web hosting?

Thanks in advance!

Question by Arnold S: I need an all-purpose server with remote access?
Hi, i need a server box that has antivirus, file server and disaster recovery backup. I also need a website with a few email address, web hosting and I need to be able to have remote access to the server. I currently own a small company with a few employees and I have some specialized software that I would like to setup on this box and access from multiple locations.

Does anyone know of a company that can provide all this for me, or how I can do it on my own for cheap?

LogMeIn. All professional companys use this remote access for obvious reasons, i.e. GeekSquad.
