Question by mindkontrol: What is a good web based collaboration tool for business use? Groupware or such. How about HR? Read details…
Something cheap or free that can be hosted on my own server would be nice. Collaboration solution for web based projects, HR for staff management, expense requests, task assignment, etc. Any suggestions?

I recommend Basecamp http://www.basecamphq.com/ – which I think is the best and easiest business collaboration tool around
You can use it to:
– Assign to-dos and tasks
– Post messages and gather feedback
– Simple scheduling and permissions
– Share files internally or with clients
– Track people’s time
I use it in my consultancies, and my clients love it. You don’t even have to be a techie to use it.

Question by awe: I want to make a web developer portfolio. HELP?!?
So here’s the deal. I know javascipt, jsp, xhtml, css and all that, but I haven’t really done any major work yet. (I’m going to learn php.)
So I wanted to create an online portfolio – so that I can get a job. I don’t know where to start! I have a few questions:
1) I would have to buy hosting right? Do you have any suggestions for cheap hosting that supports php?
2) What should I put in my portfolio? What sort of simple php stuff can I make so that it can be put in the portfolio?
3) WHERE DO I START??? 🙁
I wouldn’t have to buy a domain name would I? I can just get some free service, can’t I?
I have no idea what to do. Please help! :((

If you want a job you should have the skills to make the website yourself.
There are many website hosting services. Just google for “web hosting ratings” and choose one.
You can use a CMS to manage and create your site. Here you can try popular CMS. Most have an install guide in their .zip file when you download them: http://www.opensourcecms.com/ .
