Many companies in the Black Country are not taking advantage of SEO which I am thinking is odd. I know that SEO has an perception problem. It seems easy and grand assurances can be proffered, but to do it correctly is really not so simple since there are a number of parts to it.
The 1st bits are straightforward and can be done rapidly. If a web design firm is taken on to design the site, they can do the first task which is to find the keywords that describe the pages, the owner’s business and their broad industry sector. Then the keywords should be written into the text of the pages and any images used, and then properly inserted into the HTML that isn’t seen by the user but is crucial to the page definition.
At this point, caution must be expressed. The keywords need to be spread around the pages and pinned to the most suitable page. If a business offers general IT support services, the keywords such as ‘hardware repair’ should be on the pages that describe the list of services and not in the home page, which should have more general words such as ‘ICT’. Geographical keywords can also be employed on the home page for example since our IT support may only operate in a local area, so keywords such as ‘Black Country’ are more than acceptable as would town names of the areas where they operate.
But then the main work of SEO doesn’t not happen or show results rapidly. The stages above will not make the search engines to give a page standing in the results pages. What is needed for that is the placement of the keywords and links to the site in locations around the web that will be picked up by the search engine ‘spiders’ as they trawl sites looking for content. This is done by creating lots of articles, blogs, press releases and other pieces that can be loaded on blog sites, article banks and other locations that display such pieces. There need to be hundreds of links, all related to the linked pages and properly constructed using correct grammar and readable to the human eye. The articles then have to be re-done in such a way that there may be hundreds of copies of it, but they must all be unique in themselves. This means that the base item must be treated so that the broadcast software can generate many different versions to post.
Once uploaded, the search engines will sooner or later find them, link back to the target site and add to a profile of significance so that they can match their users to the pages according to their search guidelines. But this is a time consuming process and why it needs to be comprehended that SEO is a gradual process as it takes time for the links to be discovered and added to the profile.
Our IT support firm probably will not see themselves at the heights of the results pages for a few months but given time they will pull their way up the table and anyone else in a market that has a lot of competition will also have to be tolerant. However, since by this time they should only be paying their SEO experts by results anyway, so they can afford to be patient.
